Family Detail of Narendra Modi

Modi Ji’s family belongs to the Modh-Ghanchi-Teli community, which belongs to the Other Backward Class category by the Government of India. Narendra Modi Ji is the third child of his parents. Modi’s elder brother Soma Modi is currently 75 years old, he has been an officer of the Health Department. His second elder brother Amrit Modi is a machine operator, whose age is 72 years. After this, Modi Ji has 2 younger brothers, one Prahlada Modi who is 62 years old, he runs a shop in Ahmedabad and another Pankaj Modi who is working as a clerk in the information department in Gandhinagar.

Narendra Modi’s Education and Starting Career

Narendra Modi’s early education was completed from the local school in Vadnagar, he had completed his higher secondary education there till 1967. He left his home after his family’s financial condition was not good, and then he traveled all over India and discovered diverse cultures.

After his college studies, Modi joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and went to Ahmedabad to join the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist political party, as a fulltime campaigner.

During the National Emergency imposed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975 – 77, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was banned. Due to which Modi ji was forced to go underground at that time and used to travel in disguise to avoid arrest.

Modi was very active against the Emergency. At that time, he used various tactics to oppose the government, including distribution of pamphlets. This revealed his managerial, organizational and leadership skills.

After this, Narendra Modi joined politics as a political activist. He was assigned the task of writing in the RSS.

In the year 1985, through the RSS, Modi ji thought about joining the Bharatiya Janata Party i.e. the BJP party. In 1987, Narendra Modi fully joined the BJP, and for the first time he helped organize the BJP’s campaign in the Ahmedabad municipal elections, in which the BJP won.

First term as Chief Minister of Gujarat

Due to allegations of corruption and poor governance, Gujarat was repeatedly battling turbulence. After Shankar Singh Vaghela left the BJP, Keshubhai Patel became the Chief Minister of Gujarat and Modi became the General Secretary of the party in Delhi. After the removal of Keshubhai Patel due to weak operations following the impact of the Bhuj earthquake in 2001, BJP national leaders searched for a new chief ministerial candidate. In October 2001, Modi was selected to fill the vacant seat of power. Modi did not have much experience of governance at that time, yet he assumed power and took over as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. Initially, the BJP was not so keen on putting him at the forefront and the party was considering giving him the post of Deputy Chief Minister, which he refused. He then told Advani and the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that either he would be fully responsible for Gujarat or not at all. In July 2007, he became the longest serving Chief Minister in Gujarat’s political history.

In the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2012, Narendra Modi won against the Indian National Congress in the constituency of Maninagar by 86,373 votes. The BJP formed its government in Gujarat by winning 115 out of 182 seats. This was Narendra Modi’s fourth term as Chief Minister. In March the following year, he was appointed a member of the BJP organization, the party’s highest decision making organization. He was also nominated as a member of the party’s Central Election Committee.

Forbes magazine of the year 2015 ranked Narendra Modi ninth as the most powerful person in the world. Modi was ranked 14th in the Forbes list in 2014. The magazine said of Modi that the GDP rate was implemented at 7.4 percent in the first year of the Prime Minister’s Office and that he has highlighted his profile as a global leader, especially during the meeting with Xi Jinping and Barack Obama. It also states that there is a need to establish ties with countries to manage 1.2 billion people and now Modi will have to adopt his reformed Angeda for the country and control his opposition.

By winning 353 seats out of 542 seats, he trounced the 70-year-old Congress Party and created a history in the 2019 elections with his strategy.
